How will it affect the end product?

What makes the best hamburger patty? Does it need eggs? What does the egg do?

Flour! There are so many types, almond, rice, gluten free, gluten, wholemeal etc
Do they need cause any change in a recipe?

2014 In Review

DPE 3 In Review.

Term 1 and 2 Survival Island

Students and staff went through the first Design Challenge where we developed our understanding of the new approach to design - Student self direction.

Students planned and produced recipes that would help them survive in different situations.

Foods of the Future

We then fine tuned the process of following the design challenge and students selected areas to develop their interests and skills.

Market Day

Our final design challenge was to produce foods that could make a profit so that we could raise funds for a charity, or service in our local community.

Students determined what was to be made and selected a hot food from a different area of the world for each different team to give variety of the food available.

You will design and create a model of the multi-purpose food utensil on the 3D printer and demonstrate its use in 2 situations.

Action
Investigate what multi-purpose tools are available today and identify their uses.

So What?
What design, will my multi-purpose tool have?

What is possible to develop using the 3D printer?

What multi-purpose tools have been developed that are still used today?

What multi-pupose tool would be most useful on survival island?
